These stories not only filled us with sorrow but also made us realize that love is not just a verbal promise; it is a responsibility put into action.

In the world of stray animals, many stories are filled with pain and regret. However, there is one undeniable truth behind these stories—sometimes, pets don’t get the love they truly deserve. Recently, during our visit to a local animal shelter, the shelter manager shared many heartbreaking stories with us. These stories not only filled us with sorrow but also made us realize that love is not just a verbal promise; it is a responsibility put into action.

A Glimpse into the Shelter’s Work
The shelter manager has been involved in animal welfare for 20 years. All the funds for building shelters and caring for the animals come from her own pocket. At home, she takes care of over 20 cats and dogs, each of them a beloved companion. Over time, the local government has also started to support her work, but in the beginning, everything was done through her own strength and determination.

Heartbreaking Stories of Abandoned Pets
The manager introduced us to several dogs over 10 years old, each with a different backstory that deeply touched our hearts.

  1. Ah Wang (Golden Retriever)
Ah Wang was once a family pet, but he suffered abuse from his previous owner, which led him to run away and live on the streets. Although the shelter manager has cared for him for several years, Ah Wang still shows distrust towards humans. The manager has been bitten by him multiple times—not because Ah Wang is naturally aggressive, but because the trauma from his past has caused him to fear people.

  2. Da Tou (Labrador Retriever)
Da Tou’s story is particularly heartbreaking. His former owner lived on the sixth floor of an old building and, due to old age and limited mobility, found it difficult to take Da Tou downstairs for walks. Eventually, the owner decided to send Da Tou to the shelter, as their “love” seemed to be based more on convenience and comfort rather than true commitment.

Actually, You Don’t Love Them Enough
After hearing these stories, I couldn’t help but say to the shelter manager, “Actually, they don’t love these pets enough. If they loved them deeply enough, no difficulty would be insurmountable.”
True love is about being there through every challenge. Pets are not just members of the family; they are companions in our daily lives. Abandoning them or ignoring their needs only leads to more harm and regret.

Many pets, despite their noble breed or cute appearance, end up abandoned on the streets at their most vulnerable, waiting for a new owner to “choose” them. But true love means taking on responsibility, offering unconditional companionship, and care—not abandoning them when it’s inconvenient.

Our Responsibility
Every stray animal has an unfinished story, waiting for us to understand and care for them. As a pet brand, NZPAP not only cares about the nutritional needs of pets but also about providing them with a safe and loving environment. We believe that only by collaborating with like-minded charities can we truly bring hope and change to these homeless animals.

Conclusion
We hope this sharing will raise awareness and inspire more people to take action for stray animals. Pets are our companions in life, and they deserve more of our time, love, and responsibility—not to be abandoned just because of inconvenience. Every stray dog and abandoned cat deserves more love and care from us.
